We’re hoping to see March roar in like a lion in support of our Kindness Porch drive for Bread of Life backpack snacks. 

Bread of Life is a Malden-based organization that runs a Backpack Nutrition Program, where backpacks filled with food and other essentials are distributed to students experiencing food insecurity, as well as a weekly mobile market and food distribution for Everett families.



Research has shown that poor nutrition is linked to increased illness and impairs concentration, learning and school performance of children. Each backpack Bread of Life distributes contains items that assist in everyday needs, not just traditional snacks, but other needs as well, including bath towels and washcloths. Thousands of backpacks have been distributed to those in need since the program’s inception in 2019. 

Please donate to our Kindness Porches: 

• Individually packed (lunch/snack size) crackers, cookies, etc.
• Tuna pouches
• Granola bars
• Juice boxes and single-sized milk boxes
• Single-serving boxes of cereal, pretzels, chips
• Applesauce, fruit cups

Monthly Donations

So many of our local kindness warriors donate each month and we are so very grateful for your support. If you have items to donate that do not match our month’s theme, please don’t leave them at a porch. Instead, contact Maribeth at maribeth@melrosekind.com and we’ll look around for places that are interested in the item you’d like to donate. MelroseKind’s connections with non-profits in the area allow us to find homes for many valuable donations.  

Thank you for the Peanut Butter

Heartfelt thanks are coming your way for the many jars of peanut butter dropped to our Kindness Porches in the month of February. Together, we collected close to 300 jars for A Servant’s Heart and Pantry of Hope. Thank you so much, Kindness Warriors!
