Firefighters

Anyone who has had a kid or been a kid has a special memory of fire fighters, the heart and soul of our city. So, Melrose Kind was happy to hear from Mary Ford Glickman who tells us:
“I just wanted to give a shout out to the firefighters at the Common Fire Station.

My family has lived in Melrose over 60 years, with the last 50 being in the house where I was born in 1968.

My parents enjoyed good health and happiness for many years but 2017-2018 brought many physical challenges and they began to struggle on occasion with balance and everyday tasks, yet they remained fiercely protective of their independence.

We had a special lock box put on their door and multiple times the fire fighters came, used the box to enter, and helped one or both of them to their feet. No drama, no condescension, just a very friendly and professional hand up and quick wellness check, then everyone was on their way. They are a wonderfully kind and humble group of people at that station and I’m sure we are but one of many families who have been touched by their kindness.”
