On Monday, January 15, 2024, communities across our country will be celebrate the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. A federal holiday that began as a commemoration of Dr. King’s birthday, it is now a day dedicated to encouraging and empowering Americans to participate in community service.

Dr. King’s steadfast commitment to service has inspired people in the United States and the world to work together to make positive change.  In Melrose, our Human Rights Commission invites you to join together in participating in one (or more) of the 546 community-service opportunities available.

Sign up to join! Many opportunities are being offered at two different time slots (10-10:45AM and 11:15-12PM) to allow for volunteers to travel between and complete two different activities.

In addition to the service opportunities, on Sunday, January 14 at 7pm, the MHRC is proud to elevate and sponsor The Opening Doors FREE concert featuring The Folk Collective at the Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church (70 E. Emerson Street). Reserve your free in-person or online streaming tickets.
