We meet many kindness warriors in our travels. Often, we are touched by the goodness of others, the way that people choose to give, simply to fill a need. This is how it is with Lauren. We first met her during our sock drive. Lauren contacted MelroseKind to talk about the number one clothing need of those experiencing homelessness. She was determined, and asked our help, to fill that need as best she could.
Well, as often happens with those stung by the kindness bug, Lauren’s found another passion and plans to use it to give back to the community. Lauren grew up in Melrose and knows how important it is to stay busy when you are a kid just starting to experience some independence. She recognized the need to provide safe and fun outlets for kids to gather, in the summer and throughout the year.
Join Lauren’s facebook page to learn about the middle school dances she hosts during the year. This summer, she’s added game nights for the younger set. The kids are all abuzz with plans to play with their peers and hang out at night in a chaperoned venue. The BEST news about Lauren’s Youth Events? Any proceeds from the nominal fee charged for the event will go right back to other Melrose non-profits. Lauren donated the proceeds of her last middle school dance to Melrose Grad Night and they were ever so grateful for the support.
